Detailed Itinerary

1st day: ARRIVAL LIMA

Assistance on your arrival in Lima and transfer to your selected hotel. Free time to rest and prepare for starting your trip around this magical country. Overnight.

2nd day: LIMA - CUSCO CITY TOUR + 4 RUINS

Breakfast. Transfer to the airport to fly to Cusco. Rest and acclimation. In the afternoon, a guided sightseeing and combined tour :the Main Square, which was previously known as HUACAYPATA; THE CATHEDRAL, where you will appreciate some Cusco School paintings; KORICANCHA, Inca empire military- religious center and temple of its main God, '' THE SUN''. The second part is a visit to the Sacsayhuaman Archaeological Park, which is conformed by 4 main units: SACSAYHUAMAN, TAMBOMACHAY, PUCAPUCARA and QUENKO. Return to the hotel. Overnight at the selected hotel.

3rd day: CUSCO - CHILCA - WAYLLABAMBA

Our guide will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco very early in the morning, to take bus to the city of Chilca to begin your trek along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. After approximately three hours walking you will stop for lunch. Then you will continue walking towards your first camp at Wayllabamba, on the way you will have a guided tour of the archaeological complex of Llactapata. Dinner and overnight in tents at the campsite.

4th day: WAYLLABAMBA - WARMIWAÑUSCA - PACAYMAYO

After breakfast, the toughest part of the trail begin, walking towards the highest point in the Inca Trail where you will have an unbelievable panoramic view of the whole area and will observe different types of microclimates. After a 3 hours walk you will reach the first pass, named Warmiwañiusca or Dead Woman's Pass, at approximately 4,200 m.a.s.l. Here, you will have a tremendous feeling of achievement mixed with relief on reaching the top. After lunch you will continue your walking down to Pacaymayo where you will camp and have dinner.

5th day: PACAYMAYO - PUYA PATAMARKA - WIÑAY HUAYNA

After breakfast start the descent towards the second most important pass of the trail at 3,850 m.a.s.l. having a guided visit at the archaeological complex of Runkurakay and the Inca citadel of Sayacmarca. Continue your trekking towards Puya Patamarka (Cloud-level town), another important archaeological monument, where lunch will be served. After a short break you will continue walking to Wiñay Huayna (Forever Young) for a guided visit of this impressive archaeological complex with a spectacular setting. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

6th day: WIÑAY HUAYNA - MACHU PICCHU - CUSCO

After breakfast, have a very early start to arrive in time for sunrise at Machu Picchu. After a one hour walk through the forest towards the Inti Punku or the Gate of the Sun, also known as the Entrance Gate to Machu Picchu, where you will have the most impressive panoramic view of the citadel. Upon arrival at Machu Picchu, three-hours guided tour around the citadel, visiting the main sites and monuments. After the tour you will have free time to wander around, then you will meet with the rest of the group to drive by bus down to Aguas Calientes. In the afternoon, transfer by train to Cusco. Upon arrival in Cusco transfer to your hotel. Overnight.

7th day: CUSCO - PUERTO MALDONADO and journey to the lodge

Reception at the airport, transfer to our office to prepare for the river trip and boarding of our motorized dugout canoes. Depending of the hour we will have either a box lunch on the boat or lunch at arrival to the lodge. During the trip we may see caymans, turtles and waterfowl, etc. After approx. 3 hours we will arrive at the lodge where we will be received with a welcome drink. We are now deep inside pristine rainforest and surrounded by its sounds. After a short rest we will have a short hike to a small lagoon and return in time to enjoy a jungle sunset at Sunset Point. After returning to the lodge we will board again the canoe for a short night ride to spot caymans on the river banks with flashlights. After returning we will have dinner, at which the Resident Naturalists (RNs) and guides will be available to answer questions or brief us on the Amazon rainforest.

8th day: COCOCOCHA LAKE

After an early breakfast, guided by one of our guides, we will start a 3½ miles hike to Cocococha oxbow lake. On the way we will observe exotic plants and insects, colorful butterflies and birds, monkeys and, with luck, perhaps even some of the large mammals. At the lake a hide and canoes will be available for a ride around it watching the giant river otters and the wildlife on the shoreline. Return to the lodge for a late lunch. Afternoon free for relaxing or independent activities. Dinner.

9th day: PUERTO MALDONADO – LIMA CITY TOUR

Breakfast. Very early wake up and breakfast. Boarding of the canoe to return to Puerto Maldonado watching an unforgettable dawn on the Tambopata river. Transfer to the airport for to return flight to Lima city. Transfer to the selected hotel.
City Tour. Private service. Sightseeing tour visiting the colonial part of the city: the Main Square, the Cathedral, the Government Palace, the City Hall, Desamparados train station and the old streets with their colonial style mansions and moorish style balconies. We will also visit the Church of San Francisco with its convent, the colonial art museum, cloisters and catacombs.
The tour will continue to the most traditional residential and commercial areas : San Isidro and Miraflores with its Central Park. We will finish the tour with a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean and Miraflores beaches.
We will go later to Gold Museum, a private collection owned by Mr. Manuel Mujica Gallo. The exhibition includes gold pieces of Pre-Inca cultures, specially Mochica, Chimu and Nazca. Return at hotel.Overnight.

10th day LIMA…

Breakfast. Transfer to the airport to take your international flight.
