Detailed Itinerary
1st day: PUERTO MALDONADO/ AMAZONAS INN
Upon arrival to Lima or Cuzco, reception and transport to Tambopata fluvial port in Puerto Maldonado. We will leave after to Amazonas Inn in a two hours trip in outboard motor boats. Upon our arrival there, we will receive a short introductory conference about this ecotourism project, unique in its kind, as well as on the general usages of the inn and the roads, before to begin our afternoon activities: we will visit a scaffolfds tower 35 mts. height, located 15 minutes far from the inn walking from there. From the top we can enjoy an spectacular view of the river and its surroundings, it is also an excellent opportunity for birdwatching from the trees canopy, including toucans, parrots and macaws. Return to the inn, dinner. After dinner, we will watch a video about Tambopata-Candamo Reserved Zone, or you can enjoy a night walk (optional).

2nd day: AMAZONAS INN – TAMBOPATA RESEARCH CENTER
Breakfast. We will wake up at dawn to visit Tres Chimbadas Lake. As the noon arrives, the animal activity decreases and we will return to the port to leave upstream, 4 or 5 hours, penetrating into the pristine heart of the Reserved Zone. We will arrive to Tambopata Research Center early in the afternoon, being received by the kids, our flock of half wild parrots that have been rescued. Upon our arrival, we will attend an orientation session. Later we will walk a road that crosses the bamboo forest, famous for its rare birds plenty, and endemic at south east part of Peru which solely live in this habitat. We will return to TRC for lunch. Later we will attend a conference with slides.

3rd day: TAMBOPATA RESEARCH CENTER
Breakfast. At dawn we will cross the river to watch the biggest macaws colcothar in the world, where thousand of parrots and macaws from up to 15 species gather daily. This spectacle continues until parrots feel danger arriving, usually an eagle, and leave in a color and sound explosion. After breakfast, we will walk Tigrillo road, an example of the typical wet tropical forest. The approximate life of this forest is 200 or 300 years. It lodges giant Ceiba trees and strangling Ficus, home of a wide variety of mammals which can be watched: Pichicos, Frailecillos and Black Machines as well as Sajinos. After lunch, we will take a long walk plenty of diversity, to the aguajal. After an afternoon with the macaws, we will return to the lodge for dinner. After dinner, we will have a night walk to find amphibious, providing us excellent chances for macrophotography, we can find walos, horned toads, arboreal frogs and an impressing variety of colorful insects.

4th day:TAMBOPATA RESEARCH CENTER –AMAZONAS INN
Breakfast. We will wake up at dawn again to visit the macaws colcothar and return for breakfast. We will travel by boat for 5 minutes to a little lake to stay part of the morning. There is a platform over the lake to watch wild life and birds such as Shansoo or Hoatzin, ducks, ibis, woodpeckers, chachalacas, parakeets, orioles and several insect hunter birds. At mid morning, we will return to Tambopata Research Center, we will have box lunch on boat to return to Amazonas Inn, to spend our last night in the jungle, recall last days experiences and enjoy our “happy hour”. 5th day: AMAZONAS INN- PUERTO MALDONADO
After a breakfast early in the morning, we will take our boat to return to Puerto Maldonado city and from there to the airport. Meals included: Breakfast.
